Tierra Institute International Solar-Chiapas, Mexico

The video presents some of the activities of the Tierra Solar Program in Mexico. The filming was done during the first solar training session for women of the cooperative Mujeres Mayas de Jovel . There are 150 women from the region of Los Altos de Chiapas in the state of Chiapas in Mexico who belong to the cooperative, and they hand weave their textile crafts at their work centers located in different small rural communities of five different municipalities in the area. They sell their products at their shop in San Cristobal de las Casas.

Tierra staff trained ten women from the cooperative and two of their sons during a one week solar session that also included three installations of solar systems to provide illumination at their work centers in the communities of San Cristobal de las Casas, Majumut (Chamula), and Suitic (Larraizan)

Tierra Night of Music, Food and Fun at Bistro 400, Santa Ana California, Oct 2011 Part 1

The video highlights a Tierra Institute International fund raising event held at Bistro 400, a restaurant in down town Santa Ana in California. The event included the musical performance “The Best of Both Worlds” introducing US born Sam Lardner and Catalan Pedro Hermosilla, both living in Barcelona, and a sale of hand textile weavings from the Mujeres Mayas de Jovel cooperative from Chiapas, Mexico.

Tierra International Solar Guatemala

A video that introduces some of the activities of the Tierra Solar Program in Guatemala that is conducted in cooperation with a local community based organization in the department of Quiche. The program is being implemented in several phases and it provides solar energy applications to individual and public buildings of rural communities without access to electricity. The program is being implemented one municipality at a time of the five that are being targeted through 2020.

The video highlights the first one week solar training and installation session that was completed in 2011 in the communities of Aguilix (Municipality of San Andres) and Panimache (Municipality of Santa Cruz del Quiche) to provide solar illumination for a house, a school, and a solar water pump for the community

Tierra Presentacio a Barcelona, juliol 2010

The first official introduction of Tierra Institute International to the public in Barcelona, and fund raising event. Several Mexican students completing their Tierra internships in industry program in Barcelona, local industry leaders hosting interns, official representatives of the Mexican Consulate in Barcelona, and Tierra directors made presentations to the audience. A diversity of world arts and crafts products for sale were displayed , including some hand textile weavings from the Mujeres Mayas de Jovel cooperative from Chiapas, Mexico.

A video with images and dialogs filmed on location by Tierra directors travelling to Altos de Chiapas Mexico in 2009. The video highlights living/working sites and conditions in five different communities/municipalities of some of the 150 women that belong to the Mujeres Mayas de Jovel , a cooperative of hand crafted traditional textile weaving artisans associated with Tierra International Institute partner organization.
